Thanksgiving.

The best holiday in the world. It’s never too early to plan. Make this and bring it to someone else’s dinner. Refuse to give the recipe out. Be prepared for invitations to endless soirees with the caveat that you bring this dish.

Louise’s Bourbon Sweet Potatoes
Serves 4-6

For the potatoes
One large can sweet potatoes, drained (may substitute a bit over 2 lbs. fresh, peeled, cooked sweet potatoes)
1/3 cup sugar
Two eggs
One stick butter
One 5 oz can evaporated milk
One-teaspoon vanilla
1 oz. bourbon (I put in at least 4 oz. but I like food that gives me a buzz.)

For the topping
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 stick butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mash or whip sweet potatoes and add the next six ingredients in order. Pour into a well-greased casserole. Mix all topping ingredients and dot over prepared casserole. Bake covered for 35 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 20 minutes or more until topping is browned.
